and the other is about to be called to the Ear. And as regards
editing the reports on the arguments in important cases, this
would seem to be a matter in which the Bar is most interested.
in Singapore and Penang where the Bars are smaller than the Bar
of this Colony the Government bears no part on the cost of pro-
-duction of Law Reports merely subscribing for a certain number
of copies. Fossibly Your Honour may be able to make some ar-
-rangement with the Bar here for a contribution.
ln the hopes that this may be possible and
as I certainly concur with Your Honour that it is of importance
to the Colony that trustworthy reports of cases and decisions
should be available I am directing the Colonial Secretary to
include in the Estimates for 1906 an item of $2,000 as a con-
-tribution for Law Reports and 1 leave to Your Honour to propose
definite arrangements by which a sum not exceeding this amount
may be spent to the best advantage for this purpose.
4.
With regard to the 4th. matter dealt with
in your letter under reply, I am directing the inclusion of a
sum of $300 for an additional typewriter for the Supreme Court
and in the meantime have sent for Your Honour's immediate use
the typewriter which has hitherto been employed in my office.
